From Belgium to Balmoral to Bowral...This is the Story of the Beautiful Wedding of Hannah and Philippe“Philippe grew up in Brussels, Belgium. He first stepped on Australian soil in 1998 and immediately felt that the land down under had a special, warm feeling. He was drawn to the sunshine, the relaxed way of life... He knew he would be back!â€
Hannah grew up in Country Victoria and later moved to Dubbo in Western NSW with her family. After her final year of university, Hannah lived in Brussels as an Au Pair – little did she know that she was living only a few blocks from where Philippe was residing at the time!
But it wasn’t until May 2015 that Philippe and Hannah finally crossed paths. Philippe was back in Australia for a quick trip – he would soon be going back to Belgium to pack up his life and move to Australia permanently. Hannah and Philippe met for a glass of wine on Balmoral Beach, and felt an immediate connection with shared passions for food, wine and adventure. By July, Philippe was settled in the Great Southern Land. In September, the happy couple were holidaying in Asia, by October, Hannah moved in with Philippe, and in December, they were engaged!
Philippe’s proposal was truly memorable! Hannah was in a work meeting at the AMP building at Circular Quay, Sydney, when she received a text message from Philippe – “There is a message for you on the Cahill Expressway†it read. “What has he done!?†thought Hannah. But only once the meeting was over, could Hannah race back to her desk and look out the window to see the words: “Will you marry me?†written across the Cahill Expressway.
And the rest is history!
Prior to their Wedding, Hannah and Philippe spent a weekend in Bowral and absolutely loved the green rolling hills and relaxed countryside. They had an incredible time at Biota Dining, enjoying seasonable produce from paddock to plate.
Good food and wine are shared passions of Hannah and Philippe, so when it came to finding a venue for their wedding, Biota seemed like the perfect choice. The venue had a certain intimacy and understated elegance to it.
